Our Privacy Commitment
TalkCopyPaste is built with privacy as a core principle. We use a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) architecture, meaning your audio recordings are processed directly by the third-party API provider you choose—we never receive, access, or store your audio data.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Email Address: When you purchase a Pro license, our payment processor collects your email address to deliver your license key and purchase confirmation.
Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we may collect the information you provide in your correspondence.
Information Collected Automatically
Device Identifiers: We collect anonymous device identifiers to manage license activations and prevent abuse.
Usage Analytics: We collect aggregated, non-personally-identifiable usage data such as number of recordings, app version, and general feature usage. This helps us improve the Software.
Crash Reports: If the Software crashes, we may collect diagnostic information to identify and fix bugs. Crash reports do not include your audio recordings or transcription content.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Audio Recordings: Your voice recordings are sent directly from your device to your chosen third-party API provider (such as Groq or OpenAI). We never receive, intercept, or store your audio.
Transcription Content: The text output from your recordings stays on your device and clipboard. We do not have access to what you dictate.
API Keys: Your API keys are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.
Local Data Storage
TalkCopyPaste stores certain data locally on your device:
Transcription History: Your transcriptions are stored locally on your device for up to 7 days by default. You can configure a shorter retention period in the app settings. Free users retain the last 2 recordings; Pro users can retain up to 1,000 recordings. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
Settings and Preferences: Your app configuration, including API keys, is stored locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver and activate your Pro license
- Provide customer support
- Improve the Software based on aggregated usage patterns
- Identify and fix bugs through crash reports
- Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service
Third-Party Services
Payment Processor
We use a third-party payment processor to handle Pro license purchases. When you make a purchase, the payment processor collects your payment information (such as credit card details), name, and email address. We do not have access to your full payment information. The payment processor's use of your data is governed by their privacy policy.
Speech-to-Text API Providers
When you use TalkCopyPaste, your audio is sent directly to the third-party API provider you configure (such as Groq, OpenAI, or others). We are not a party to this data transfer and have no access to your audio or the API provider's processing of it. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of your chosen provider.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any third-party API providers.
Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Your API keys and transcriptions are stored locally on your device and are protected by your device's security measures.
Data Retention
Email Address: Retained for as long as necessary to provide license support and as required by law.
Usage Analytics: Retained in aggregated, anonymized form indefinitely to improve the Software.
Crash Reports: Retained for up to 90 days to diagnose and fix issues.
Local Data: Transcriptions are retained on your device for up to 7 days (configurable). You can delete this data at any time through the app settings.
Your Rights and Choices
Access and Deletion: You can request access to or deletion of any personal information we hold about you by contacting us at [email protected].
Local Data Control: You can delete your local transcription history and settings at any time through the app or by uninstalling the Software.
Analytics Opt-Out: You may be able to disable certain analytics collection in the app settings.
Children's Privacy
TalkCopyPaste is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
International Users
TalkCopyPaste is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Software from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Software after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
